Drought. Why isn’t this being addressed by the presidential candidates of BOTH parties? While I understand and agree with the need for a deficit plan, a national disaster that is not being sufficiently addressed by the mainstream media sources and has long-range implications on our economy certainly deserves a spotlight too.
While being mentioned by major news sources, the drought has been seriously underrepresented considering the severity of this disaster. 1,584 counties have been declared disaster areas by the federal government as of two days ago, and the number is going up all the time. For contrast, there are only 3,033 counties in the whole of the United States. Thirty-two states are being affected, and two-thirds of corn and soybean crops, as well as livestock, are in these areas.
