A third-party presidential slate that backs home-grown food products and legalizing marijuana has made the Ohio ballot.
Green Party candidates Jill Stein and Cheri Honkala sought ballot slots in Ohio and other key battleground states. They were cleared for Ohio's ballot Friday.
Stein is a Harvard-educated physician, instructor of internal medicine, and environmental health advocate. She also touts her experience as a mother and housewife.
Running mate Honkala is national coordinator for the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign, a multi-racial, intergenerational movement led by homeless and low-income Americans.
Stein beat out actor and comedian Rosanne Barr for the party's nomination in July. She proposes a "Green New Deal" centered on creating sustainable local economies and reducing the political power of corporations.
